RICHMOND, Va. – Saint Louis University scored in each of the final four innings to earn a 6-3 comeback win over Richmond on Friday.
The Billikens have won six consecutive regular season conference games for the first time since 2018.
The Spiders took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, and both teams were held scoreless until the sixth.
The Billikens broke through in the sixth when
Hank Gomric and
Chase Beattie each drove in a run to give SLU a 2-1 lead. In the seventh, Gomric delivered a two-run single to extend the lead to 4-1.
Richmond answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to trim the deficit to 4-3.
Riley Iffrig added an RBI single in the eighth, and
Kamaehu Sanchez drove in the final run with a single in the ninth to seal the 6-3 victory.
Owen Kelley earned his fourth win, striking out six over six innings.
Charlie Weber recorded his third save with three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six.
The Billikens return to action Saturday, April 26, for game two of the series. First pitch has been moved up to 10 a.m. CT.
