Billikens Power Past St. Bonaventure on Senior Day

GAME RESULT
St. Louis 18, St. Bonaventure 0
Sunday, April 27, 2025
St. Louis, Mo. (Billiken Sports Center)

THE BASICS
Abby Mallo drove in eight runs and tied Saint Louis' single-season home run record, Taylor Hochman notched her seventh shutout of the season, and the first-place Billikens rolled to a five-inning, 18-0 Atlantic 10 Conference win over St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at the Billiken Sports Center.

SLU improved to 29-19 overall and 17-5 in the A-10. The Billikens have winning streaks of 14 games overall, 15 A-10 games and 12 home games, all school records and all among the top three current streaks in NCAA Division I. SLU is 20-3 in its last 23 games.

Mallo, who broke Saint Louis' career home run record Saturday, tied Sadie Wise (2018) for the school single-season mark with her 16th long ball and second grand slam of the season in the third inning. She now has 39 career homers. Mallo's eight RBIs – just one fewer than Laura Bohning's school-record nine vs. Rhode Island on May 3, 2013 – increased her SLU single-season record total to 69.

Hochman improved to 14-6. She is one shutout shy of tying Nicole Bohnenstiehl (2003) for the Bills' single-season record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis scored four times in the bottom of the first inning. Karsen Jany led off with a double and scored when Abby Ulsas' bunt single rolled between the pitcher and charging third baseman. Ulsas scored on Natalie Sullivan's double, Sullivan scored on Mallo's single and Mallo scored on Chloe Rhine's double.
•The Billikens doubled their lead in the second. Walks to Allie Marietta and Ulsas and Sullivan's bunt single loaded the bases for Mallo, who delivered a sacrifice fly. Jane Kaniecki walked to load the bases again, and Scout Gallagher smacked an RBI single. Two additional runs scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball.
•Mallo's third-inning grand slam followed walks to Marietta and Sydney Ross and another Sullivan bunt single. Kaniecki immediately followed with her first home run of the season.
•Kendall Johnson led off the fourth with a double, and walks to Marietta and Ross loaded the bases. After Johnson scored on a passed ball, Sophia Boente walked to reload the bases for Sullivan, who produced a two-run double. Mallo's two-run single concluded the scoring.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Hochman struck out four and allowed only four hits.
•Sullivan registered the first 4-hit game of her collegiate career.

UP NEXT
•The Billikens conclude the regular season with a three-game A-10 series at Massachusetts May 3-4. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game start at 11 a.m. Central.
