FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Louis baseball team dropped both games of its doubleheader with George Mason. The Billikens fell 7-2 in the opener and 8-6 game two.
The Patriots got ahead 2-0 in the third before SLU answered back when a sacrifice fly from
Max McGwire put the score at 2-1.
George Mason plated two more runs to lead 4-1.
Saint Louis scored its final run in the top of the eighth with a
Riley Iffrig RBI single. Mason responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to put game one at its final score of 7-4.
In game two, George Mason scored four answered runs before the Billiken bats came alive.
Saint Louis plated six runs in the top of the ninth to lead 6-4.
Max McGwire hit a three run shot,
Austin Neuweg drove in two with a double, and
Ian Blazier brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.
George Mason was able to tie in the game in the ninth to send it to extra innings.
The Billikens were unable to score in the 10
th and the Patriots hit a walk off homerun to end the game at 8-6.
Saint Louis returns to action on Tuesday, April 8
th to host Rockhurst. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
