ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis University baseball team used four multi-run innings to secure a 13-3 run-rule victory over Rockhurst on Tuesday afternoon at Billiken Sports Center.
Rockhurst took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Billikens quickly responded with three runs. Ethan Sitzman drew a bases-loaded walk, and Hank Gomric followed with a two-RBI single.
The Hawks answered with a run in the second, but Saint Louis countered again. Brenden Stressler hit a three-run homer, his seventh of the season, to give the Billikens a 6-2 lead.
Sacrifice flies from Kamaehu Sanchez and Ian Halverson pushed the lead to 8-2. Rockhurst added another run in the fourth to make it 8-3.
In the sixth, Saint Louis sent eight batters to the plate and scored four runs to extend the lead to 12-3. Riley Iffrig added an RBI single in the seventh to seal the run-rule victory, 13-3.
Karl Ralamb earned his second win of the season, and the Billiken pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and just one walk.
