KINGSTON, R.I. – The Saint Louis University baseball team fell to Rhode Island 8-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Billikens struck first with an RBI double by Brenden Stressler in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead.
SLU added two more runs in the fifth, courtesy of a Chase Beattie RBI triple and another RBI from Stressler.
Rhode Island answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2, then added four runs in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead.
Saint Louis trimmed the gap in the eighth on a solo home run by Ian Halverson, but the Rams responded with two more runs in the bottom half to seal the win.
The Billikens return to action Tuesday, May 13, when they travel to Western Illinois. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
