FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 4 national seed Arkansas scored five runs in the first inning and went on to post a 10-0 (five innings) victory over Saint Louis Friday evening in the opening round of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.
The loss drops the Billikens (34-23) to the elimination round, where they will face Indiana (33-19) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. The Hoosiers fell 11-6 to Oklahoma State in Friday's other first-round game.
A Saint Louis victory would advance the Bills to Saturday's 5 p.m. elimination game vs. the loser of the noon winner's bracket game matching Arkansas and Oklahoma State.
The Billikens managed just two baserunners, a third-inning walk to
Allie Marietta and
Chloe Rhine's fifth-inning hit-by-pitch.
SLU registered its school-record 26th double play in the first inning, breaking the previous mark of 25 set in 2023.
Arkansas (41-12) added a run in the second and four in the fourth.
