Billikens Rally Late but Fall Short to George Washington

ST. LOUIS — Saint Louis University baseball fell 11-10 in a thriller against George Washington on Friday.

The Revolutionaries scored nine unanswered runs through the first four innings.

The Billikens responded in the fifth, as Austin Neuweg and Riley Iffrig each delivered RBI singles.

SLU plated five runs in the sixth to trim the deficit to 9-7. Hank Gomric got things started with an RBI double, Ethan Sitzman added an RBI single, Neuweg brought in another run with a sacrifice fly, and Hayden Moore tripled home two more.

Saint Louis tied the game at 9-9 in the seventh when Chase Beattie scored on a wild pitch and Sitzman added a sacrifice fly.

George Washington retook the lead with a run in both the eighth and ninth innings to make it 11-9.

Moore doubled in a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the Billikens came up just short.

SLU's pitching staff recorded nine strikeouts in the loss.

Saint Louis wraps up the regular season on Saturday, May 17, celebrating Senior Day against George Washington. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
