TYSONS, Va. — The Saint Louis University baseball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 10-2 win over Fordham on Tuesday night.
The Billikens struck first when Brenden Stressler singled to drive in Hayden Moore. Max McGwire followed with his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot that gave SLU a 3-0 lead.
Riley Iffrig added a two-run double and Stressler homered in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-0. Stressler picked up another RBI in the fourth to make it 8-0, and Iffrig drove in his third run of the day in the sixth for a 9-0 advantage.
Josh Cunningham pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out six tp pick up the win.
Fordham got on the board with a run in the seventh, but Saint Louis answered in the eighth when Austin Neuweg doubled home Joe Connolly to push the lead to 10-1. The Rams scored once more in the ninth.
Saint Louis will face No. 2 seed George Mason on Wednesday, May 21, at 2 p.m. Central.
