EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Saint Louis University volleyball team fell in straight sets to Valparaiso on Saturday morning at the USI Invitational.
Set 1 – Valparaiso 25, SLU 18
The teams traded points early, with neither leading by more than one until Valparaiso took a 12-10 lead. The Beacons extended their advantage to 18-13 with five straight points and maintained control to take the first set.
Set 2 – Valparaiso 25, SLU 21
SLU trailed 18-13 but battled back to within one at 21-20 before Valparaiso closed out the set.
Set 3 – Valparaiso 25, SLU 14
The third set remained close early, but a 5-0 Valparaiso run pushed the lead to 14-7. The Billikens were unable to recover.
Jetta Brenning recorded her third consecutive double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs. She also contributed two service aces and two block assists. Ellie Rink tallied nine kills and five digs, while Tamia Maddox added seven kills, four digs, and three block assists. Tea Kalajdzic finished with seven kills.
