Saint Louis has a pair of games in St. Louis this weekend, one on its home turf and one away.

The Bills welcome VCU to the SLU FH Complex for an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup on Friday. Game time is at noon. It serves as a kickoff to SLU's Homecoming and Family Weekend. On Sunday, the Bills travel across town to face the Maryville Saints. Game time at the Maryville Athletic Complex is 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS

Saint Louis enters the weekend with a 3-3 record. The Billikens are coming off two-game roadswing in Pennsylvania where they fell 3-0 at nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's and 1-0 at Saint Francis.

Sierra Larson, who was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 8, leads SLU with four goals. Olivia Smith (3G, 1A) and Abby Vidas (2G, 3A) have seven points apiece. Ignacia Manriquez has scored twice for the Bills.

Abby Schalow, the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week, has played the majority of minutes in the cage. She has a 67 goals against average and has made 47 saves, including a career-high 18 stops against Saint Joseph's last Friday.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

VCU enters Friday's match 5-2 overall. The game against SLU serves as the A-10 opener for the Rams.

Morena Macera leads VCU with nine goals, which ranks second in the A-10. Emma Clements has played every minute in the cage and she sports a 1.13 GAA with three shutouts.

Maryville is 4-1 heading into its match Saturday against Converse University. The Saints are led by Denise van der Spuy's six goals. She had a hat trick in Maryville's last game, a 9-0 win over Concordia Wisconsin.

NEW COACHING STAFF

The Billikens are led by interim head coach Laura Hurff. She guided Rhodes College to a 14-6 record last season as interim head coach. An accomplished player in her own right, she was a four-year starter at Syracuse and helped the Orange win the NCAA Championship in 2015.

Assisting Hurff is interim assistant coach Teresa Schmidt, a St. Louis native who played at Bellarmine. Graduate assistant Bodhi Littlefield was a four-year starter at Ohio.

50TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON

This season marks the 50th anniversary of Billiken Field Hockey at Saint Louis University. The program began in 1975 under the direction of SLU professor and former Dutch national team player, Dr. Will van Beaumont.
