FAIRFAX, Va. – Saint Louis dropped its Atlantic 10 opener, falling 3-1 to George Mason Friday night.
Set 1: GMU 25, SLU 21
The Billikens opened with a 3-0 lead before the teams traded points to a 5-5 tie. George Mason used a late push to build a 17-14 advantage and held on to take the frame.
Set 2: SLU 25, GMU 22
SLU built an early 8-3 lead and later stretched it to 20-11. The Patriots stormed back with an 8-1 run to close within two, but the Billikens closed out the set to even the match.
Set 3: GMU 25, SLU 18
The Billikens led 14-10 before George Mason responded with an 11-0 run. The Patriots carried the momentum to claim the third set and a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4: GMU 25, SLU 20
George Mason took an early 6-2 lead, but SLU rallied with six straight points to move ahead 14-13. The Patriots answered with a late surge, pulling away 21-15 and sealing the match.
