ST. LOUIS –
Robbie Avila's fourth 3-pointer of the game, and third of the second half, with three seconds left gave No. 21 Saint Louis a 79-76 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over George Washington Tuesday night in front of 7,481 fans at Chaifetz Arena.
The Billikens (20-1, 8-0 A-10) collected their 14th consecutive win overall, tying for the nation's fourth-longest active streak, and added to a school record with their 17th straight win at Chaifetz Arena. Their 20-1 record represents the best 21-game mark in program history. In addition, the Bills are 8-0 in A-10 play for the second time in program annals, joining the 2013-14 team.
Trey Green scored a game- and career-high-tying 23 points including a career-high-tying six 3-pointers (6-of-10). Avila tallied a season-high 22 points, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, and led the Bills with seven rebounds, a game-high five assists and a game-high-tying and season-high-tying three steals.

Saint Louis trailed 43-33 at halftime and was staring at a 63-55 deficit midway through the second half when the offense kicked into high gear with a 15-0 outburst.
Thames scored five of the first 10 points in the run and Green's 3-pointer put the Billikens on top 65-63, their first lead since 2-0. Avila finished the spurt with a trey and a layup, and it was 70-63 SLU with 5:43 remaining.
George Washington answered with an 11-3 run of its own and held a 74-73 edge at the 2:39 mark. Following an empty possession by each team, Avila connected from beyond the arc for a 76-74 Saint Louis lead with 1:36 to play.
The Revolutionaries tied it on Rafael Castro's follow-up dunk. Neither team scored on its next possession, and following a timeout, Thames found a wide-open Avila for the game-winning bucket. Avila then sealed the win by intercepting GW's long inbounds pass.
George Washington led by as many as 15 points in the first half, turning a 21-21 deadlock into a 41-26 advantage with a 20-5 flurry. Saint Louis scored seven of the last nine points, including Jones' long 3-pointer at the buzzer, to narrow the gap to 10 points at the break.
