Billikens Come Up Short At George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Saint Louis women's basketball fell 66-51 at George Mason on Saturday afternoon inside EagleBank Arena.
 
The Billikens moved to 11-13 overall and 5-6 in Atlantic 10 play, while George Mason improved to 15-6 and remained undefeated in conference action at 10-0.
 
Alyssa Koerkenmeier posted her eighth double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds to lead Saint Louis.
 
The Billikens set the tone defensively early and grabbed their first lead on a Jahda Denis 3-pointer to go ahead 9-8. Saint Louis stayed within one possession throughout the opening quarter and trailed 16-14 after 10 minutes. SLU's freshmen combined to score all 14 points in the period.
 
George Mason opened the second quarter with a run, but Saint Louis responded with an 11-2 surge to trim the deficit to 27-25. The Billikens went into halftime trailing 33-27.
 
Saint Louis carried momentum into the third quarter, opening with a 6-0 run to pull within two at 35-33. George Mason answered later in the period to rebuild a double-digit advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.
 
The Billikens continued to compete down the stretch but were unable to close the gap, as Saint Louis trailed by 15 with 4:24 remaining and ultimately fell 66-51.

  • The Billikens knocked down five 3-pointers, their most since Jan. 18.
