ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University women's basketball dropped to Fordham 39-42 on Wednesday at Chaifetz Arena.
The Billikens held Fordham scoreless for the opening five minutes, with eight stops in a row on the defensive end. SLU went cold without a score for over six minutes before going on another run to lead 9-6 at the end of the first.
The Rams and Billikens traded baskets to open the second quarter;
Alyssa Koerkenmeier scored eight points in the second quarter for the Billikens. Saint Louis went into the half with a 19-16 lead.
The Billikens took their then largest lead of the game at 26-18 off a 7-0 run all by
Zya Nugent. Fordham was able to tie the game at 27-27 with two minutes left in the third.
Saint Louis started the fourth up 31-27. The Rams took a 40-37 lead with just over two minutes remaining.
