Billikens Drop Hard Fought Senior Day Contest to Saint Joseph's

ST. LOUIS – The Billikens fell 65-54 to Saint Joseph's on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.
 
The Billikens and Hawks traded baskets early. SLU took an 11-9 run off a 5-0 run and held on to lead 16-14 at the end of the first. Alyssa Koerkenmeier with seven points in the opening 10 minutes.
 
 The Hawks went on a 10-2 run to start the second quarter to take a 24-18 lead. Ellie Paloucek came in and drained a three to cut the lead to 26-23. The Hawks were held scoreless for the final three and half minutes and went into half with a 26-25 lead.
 
The Hawks opened the half on an 18-2 run to extend to a 44-27 lead. The Billikens were held scoreless for over six minutes, that drought ended by a pair of Isabel Tillett free throws. St. Joe's carried at 48-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
 
Zya Nugent opened the fourth with five straight points for the Bills. The Hawks got ahead by as many 23 with a 62-39 lead with three minutes remaining. Saint Louis went on a 9-0 run to cut the St. Joe's lead to 64-52 and ultimately fell 65-54.

  • Koerkenmeier broke the program freshman rebounding record with her eighth rebound of the game reaching 272, the mark also puts her top 10 all time in single season rebounds
  • She also recorded her 10th double-double of the season with
  • Zya Nugent added 14 points and eight rebounds
  • Jahda Denis had 10 points to round out the Billikens in double figures
