FLORENCE, Ala. – Saint Louis baseball fell 8-6 in the series finale to North Alabama.
North Alabama struck first with a solo home run in the opening inning, but the Saint Louis Billikens answered in the third to take the lead.
Ian Blazier tripled to deep right field to drive in
Krew Bond from first, and
Riley Iffrig followed with a ground-rule double to center to score Blazier and give SLU a 2-1 advantage.
The Billikens added another run in the fourth when Bond reached on a fielder's choice, allowing
Joey Canzoni to cross the plate and push the margin to 3-1. North Alabama responded with a big fourth inning, plating seven runs to swing the momentum and take an 8-3 lead.
Saint Louis chipped away in the fifth as
Chase Beattie delivered a two-run double to left, scoring
Hank Gomric and Iffrig. The Billikens added their final run in the seventh when Canzoni singled to center to bring home Iffrig from second.
