ST. LOUIS – Ben Cherico struck out a career-high 10 batters as Saint Louis rolled to a 13-3 run-rule victory Friday afternoon at Billiken Sports Center.
The Billikens jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings, highlighted by a three-run second.
Chase Beattie and
Joey Canzoni each homered in the third to extend the advantage.
Bellarmine scored one run in each of the next three innings to trim the deficit to 5-3.
Saint Louis answered in the sixth.
Hank Gomric doubled and
Riley Iffrig followed with an RBI double to push the lead to 8-3.
The Billikens put the game away with a five-run seventh inning.
Drew Kleinheider delivered a two-RBI single, Gomric added another RBI and
Austin Neuweg drove in the final two runs with a single to secure the run-rule victory.
