THE BASICS
Saint Louis split a pair of games Saturday on the final day of the La Jolla Invitational, posting a 5-3 victory over Wagner and falling 3-0 to host team UC San Diego.
 
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Abby Ulsas gave the Billikens a 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning.
•Wagner pulled even with a two-run third inning and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.
•Saint Louis struck for three tallies in the sixth on RBI doubles by Bella Stephens and Ulsas and an RBI single by Abby Mallo.
•Wagner had the tying runs aboard with nobody out in the seventh, but a double play and a strikeout ended the threat.
 
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Mallo added a single for a two-hit game.
•Karsen Jany doubled, while Anna Christ, Kate Proffitt, Anna Rolla and Addie Duttlinger had a single apiece.
•Christ picked up the win in relief, allowing only one hit.
 
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•UC San Diego scored two runs in the first and added an insurance marker in the fifth.
 
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Ulsas registered SLU's only hit, a single with two outs in the seventh.
•Jany drew three walks.
 
UP NEXT
•The Billikens compete in UT Martin's Skyhawk Invitational Friday-Sunday, Feb. 13-15. SLU will face UT Martin and Valparaiso twice each and Mississippi Valley State once.
