THE BASICS
•Isabel Royle tossed a three-hit shutout, Scout Gallagher and Kate Proffitt had an RBI apiece, and Saint Louis defeated SIUE 3-0 Wednesday evening at the Billiken Sports Center.
•The shutout was the second in succession and fourth of the season for the Billikens, who improved to 11-15 with their third consecutive victory.
•Royle, who evened her record at 5-5, recorded her first shutout of 2026 and the sixth of her career.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis scored the only run it needed in the fourth. Anna Christ smacked a one-out double, pinch runner Allie Branstetter moved to third on Ava Wombles' fielder's choice, and Proffitt delivered a sacrifice fly.
•The Billikens plated two insurance runs in the sixth. Bella Stephens led off with a single, advanced to third on a wild pitch and a groundout and scored on Gallagher's groundout. Proffitt and Sophia Boente followed with a double and a single, respectively, and Proffitt scored on a wild pitch.
•With the tying run on deck and one out in the seventh, center fielder Karsen Jany ran down a deep fly ball and doubled off the SIUE runner at first base to end the game.

•Royle struck out four.
•Proffitt doubled twice.
•Stephens and Abby Mallo collected two singles apiece.
