THE BASICS
•
Sophia Boente hit the first home run of her Saint Louis career in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Billikens a come-from-behind 9-8 victory over Dayton and a split of an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
•Boente's blast to left field, which came off likely A-10 Pitcher of the Year Izzy Kemp, was a one-out solo shot. It capped SLU's comeback from a 7-0 deficit.
•
Anna Christ drove in five of the Billikens' nine runs with a pair of doubles.
•Dayton won the opener 4-0.
Â
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED

Â
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•
Bella Stephens and
Kate Proffitt had a single apiece.
Â
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Dayton was in front 7-0 after scoring twice in the first, once in the third and four times in the fourth.
•Saint Louis began its comeback with a three-run fifth inning. Consecutive one-out singles by
Abby Ulsas,
Karsen Jany and
Abby Mallo set the stage for Christ's bases-clearing double.
•The Billikens surged ahead 8-7 by plating five runs in the sixth. Stephens led off with a single and was forced at second by Boente. Pinch hitter
Scout Gallagher drew a walk, and Ulsas' single loaded the bases for Jany, whose two-run single made it 7-5. Mallo was intentionally walked to load the bases again for Christ, who smacked a two-run double to tie the score. Proffitt followed with a pop foul that the second baseman caught while running away from the infield, allowing pinch runner
Allie Branstetter to tag up at third and score the go-ahead run.
•Dayton tallied the tying run in the seventh, setting the stage for Boente's heroics in the bottom of the frame.
Â
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
