THE BASICS
•Isabel Royle fired a three-hitter, Karsen Jany and Abby Mallo combined for five RBIs, and Saint Louis toppled Dayton 8-0 in five innings Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at the Billiken Sports Center.
•The Billikens, who won the series two games to one, improved to 20-24 overall and 11-10 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. SLU concludes league play next weekend at St. Bonaventure.
•Mallo was honored in a postgame Senior Day ceremony.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis took command by scoring five runs in the second inning. Kate Proffitt drew a leadoff walk and scored on Ava Wombles' double. After Sophia Boente was hit by a pitch, Anna Rolla moved the runners with a sacrifice. A walk to Abby Ulsas loaded the bases for Jany, whose mishandled slow roller allowed two runs to score. Mallo's RBI single made it 4-0, and a bases-loaded walk to Proffitt concluded the scoring.
•In the third, Rolla and Ulsas walked and singled, respectively, with one out. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and scored on Jany's double, and Mallo provided the final run with an RBI single.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Royle collected her team-high eighth win of the season and her second shutout. She struck out five and walked only one.
•Proffitt reached base in all three of her plate appearances, adding a single to her two walks.
