NORMAL, Ill. – The Billikens dropped a 5-4 decision to Illinois State on Tuesday evening.
The Redbirds opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Saint Louis answered in the third to even the game at 2-2.
Drew Kleinheider delivered an RBI double before scoring on an RBI single by
Ian Halverson.
Matt Deutsch put the Billikens in front in the fourth with a solo home run to make it 3-2.
Saint Louis added to its lead in the seventh when
Riley Iffrig drove in a run with a single, extending the advantage to 4-2.
Illinois State rallied in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs to walk it off and secure the 5-4 win.
