BRONX, N.Y. – The Billikens used a big first inning to complete the weekend sweep of Fordham on Sunday morning.
Saint Louis scored five runs in the opening frame.
Drew Kleinheider crossed with the game's first run after a leadoff single, advancing on
Krew Bond's bunt single and scoring following a throwing error.
Hank Gomric added a sacrifice fly for SLU's second run before
Chase Beattie launched his 10th home run of the season, a three-run shot to make it 5-0.
The Rams answered with one run in the first and another in the third to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Gomric came through again in the fifth with a solo home run to extend the lead to 6-2.
Fordham rallied with two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game 6-6 entering the ninth.
SLU loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, and Gomric delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly to lift the Billikens to a 7-6 victory.
