ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis women's basketball head coach Rebecca Tillett announced the signing of Jameela James to the program's 2026 signing class.
 
A 6-foot-5 center, James comes to Saint Louis from St. Mary's Ryken High School, where she established herself as one of the top interior players in Maryland.
 
"Jameela adds character, discipline, size, and versatility," Tillett said. "The ceiling of her game has no limits due to her internal drive that is common among elite players. She moves like a guard. She has a joyful outlook on each day which helps teams thrive in high pressure moments. Her support system spans continents. She has many people uplifting her towards sustained excellence. We are thrilled to start working with Jameela and her teammates as we rebuild our championship standard."
 
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, James averaged 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game while earning WCAC second-team all-conference honors and the Coach's Award. She also ranked No. 6 in Maryland in blocks and No. 9 in the state in double-doubles.
 
On the club circuit, James competed for Team Durant 17U.
 
"At the level that I'd like to reach with my basketball career, I feel like Saint Louis is a great fit to help me get there," James said.
 
James plans to major in Sports Business at Saint Louis and has aspirations of playing professionally following her collegiate career.
