BILLIKENS OPEN THREE-GAME HOMESTAND VS. SEMO WEDNESDAY NIGHT
• The Saint Louis Billikens (3-1-2) will play in front of a Robert R. Hermann Stadium crowd for the first time in 24 days when they welcome Southeast Missouri State (1-4-1) to Midtown Wednesday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
• The game will be streamed on ESPN+, and live stats are available. See the links above.
• SLU received a vote in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. The Billikens are ranked No. 1 in the East Region.
• Saint Louis will be in action for the first time in almost a week following its 1-1 draw at Illinois State Sept. 3. That game completed a stretch of four consecutive road matches during which the Billikens went 2-0-2.
• SEMO began the season at home by defeating Southern Illinois 1-0 but is winless in its last five outings, all on the road. Most recently, the Redhawks fell 2-0 at Oklahoma State on Sunday.
• Following Wednesday's game, the Billikens host Saturday matches vs. Kansas (Sept. 12, 3:30 p.m.) and VCU in the A10 opener (Sept. 19, 1 p.m.).
 
WEDNESDAY IS PASSBACK NIGHT AT HERMANN STADIUM
• Billiken Athletics has partnered with Passback to redistribute sports equipment back into the community.
• Fans attending Wednesday night's SLU-SEMO game are encouraged to donate new or gently used sports equipment including athletic shoes and cleats, uniforms, protective gear, backpacks, balls, bats, sticks, rackets and more. Those who donate any accepted item will receive free admission to the game. Look for the green bins at the entrance to Hermann Stadium.
 
ADMISSION SPECIALS FOR SEPT. 12 KANSAS GAME
• The Saint Louis Department of Athletics is offering two admission specials for the Billikens' Sept. 12 game vs. Kansas.
• Youth Soccer Day will be celebrated Saturday at Hermann Stadium. All youth soccer players who wear their club jersey to the game will receive free admission.
• Also on Saturday, the Billiken men's team hosts Akron at 7 p.m. Fans who purchase tickets online by clicking here receive admission to both games for the price of one ticket.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Saint Louis leads the series with Southeast Missouri State 3-0-2, with all five meetings occurring between 2005 and 2012.
• The Billikens are 3-0-1 vs. the Redhawks in St. Louis.
• SLU defeated SEMO in 2005 (1-0), 2006 (2-1) and 2007 (3-1). The teams played to 0-0 draws in 2011 and 2012.
• Saint Louis is 22-5-4 vs. Ohio Valley Conference teams, including a 5-0 victory over Lindenwood earlier this season.
 
BILLS MAKE HERMANN STADIUM A SOCCER FORTRESS
• Saint Louis is 87-12-13 (.835) in its last 112 games on the home pitch of Robert R. Hermann Stadium, a stretch that dates to the final home game of the 2015 campaign.
• In those 112 games, SLU outscored opponents 255-49, posted 71 shutouts and allowed more than one goal just six times.
 
TRADITION OF BALANCED SCORING CONTINUING
• The 2026 season is just six games old, but the Billikens already are showing signs of yet another balanced attack. Nine of SLU's 11 goals have been assisted, and all nine have featured a different player combination.
• Five players have combined for the Bills' 11 goals, 11 have at least one assist and 12 have at least one point. Audrey Smith leads with five goals, Hope Kim has a team-high three assists, and Jeanette Fieldsend and Leah Simpson have two goals apiece. Smith has added an assist for a team-high 11 points.
 
BILLIKENS IN THE ATLANTIC 10 STATISTICAL RANKINGS
• Saint Louis leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in goal differential (plus-7).
• The Billikens rank second in the conference in goals against average (0.67) and assists (13).
• SLU is third in the league in shutout percentage (.500, three shutouts in six games), points (35) and corner kicks per game (5.83), and fourth in goals (11).
• Audrey Smith is tied for the A10 lead and tied for 33rd nationally in goals (five). Smith ranks second in the conference in points (11).
• Hope Kim is second in the league in assists (three) and third in shot accuracy (.615).
 
SAINT LOUIS CELEBRATING 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF WOMEN'S SOCCER PROGRAM'S INCEPTION
• The 2026 season marks the 30th anniversary of the beginning of Billiken women's soccer.
• SLU's Saturday, Oct. 17, game vs. Richmond will include a 30th anniversary celebration, coupled with the return of Billiken women's soccer alumni.
• Also, SLUBillikens.com is featuring once-a-week stories highlighting the program's 11 members of the Billiken Hall of Fame. Click here to read the series' fifth installment featuring Jamie Perry, one of the most prolific offensive players in program history.
• The Billikens played their first game on Aug. 31, 1996, defeating Central Missouri 9-0.
 
BILLIKENS LAND IN SECOND PLACE IN A-10 PRESEASON POLL
• Saint Louis was picked to finish second in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer race in preseason balloting by A-10 head coaches. The Billikens received three of 14 first-place votes and totaled 182 of a possible 196 points.
• Graduate defender Camille Welker and sophomore defender Blakely Hockett were selected to the 11-member preseason All-Conference team.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• Audrey Smith scored her team-leading fifth goal in the 88th minute as Saint Louis came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Illinois State Sept. 3.
• Lucie Schwartz provided the primary assist, and Blakely Hockett also was credited with a helper. Operating deep on the left side, Schwartz managed to create just enough space between herself and a defender to fire a cross to Smith close to the near post. Smith flicked a header that got past ISU goalkeeper Madi Valenti, hit the far post and crossed the line.
 
A LOOK AT THE 2026 BILLIKENS
• Among the Billikens' returning players is sophomore midfielder/forward Caroline Chier (1G, 6A), the 2025 A-10 co-Rookie of the Year. Sophomore forward Adee Broesder (5G, 3A), SLU's leading returning point-scorer, and sophomore defender Blakely Hockett (2G) joined Chier on the All-Rookie team.
• Also back this season are key offensive threats in junior forwards Hope Kim (4G, 4A) and Audrey Smith (5G, 1A) and senior midfielder Lucie Schwartz (3G, 1A).
• Junior goalkeeper Emma Parker (0.92 GAA, .721 save percentage) returns after starting all 20 games a year ago, joining first XI mainstays in graduate defender Camille Welker (20 starts) and junior midfielder Ashley Miller (19 starts).
• Also returning are senior midfielder Nina Preusser, junior goalkeeper Nimu Karani, sophomore midfielder/defender Ava Rademeyer, sophomore forward Addison Stanciak and sophomore defender Ava Scorfina.
• Eleven newcomers – four transfers and seven freshmen – joined the Billiken program this year. The transfers are senior midfielder Jeanette Fieldsend (James Madison), senior defender Caroline Fowlkes (College of Charleston), sophomore goalkeeper Pepper Escher (Massachusetts) and sophomore defender Avery Rasmussen (Kansas). The Saint Louis freshman class consists of defender Hana Allen, forward Keira Bartholet, forward Gianna Harris, defender Lucy Marsh, forward/midfielder Emma Naftanel, forward Leah Simpson and defender Lauren Zangara.
 
HEAD COACH KATIE SHIELDS
• Now in her 14th season as Saint Louis' head coach, Katie Shields owns a 185-66-26 (.715) overall record (all at Saint Louis). Shields' .716 winning percentage at the beginning of the season ranked sixth among all active NCAA Division I women's soccer coaches, and second among active Division I female coaches, who have coached a minimum of five seasons at the Division I level.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE
• SEMO was picked to finish sixth in the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll.
• The Redhawks were 2-15-2 overall and 2-5-2 in conference play (eighth) a year ago.
• Senior defender Laia Amat and sophomore midfielder Rachel Kretzer were named 2026 OVC "Players to Watch."
• Senior forward Hayley Hogenmiller was selected to the 2025 OVC All-Newcomer team after transferring from Murray State.
• Kretzer and Hogenmiller have scored a goal apiece.
• Senior Natalie Allison has played the bulk of the minutes in goal, compiling a 1.56 goals against average, a .767 save percentage and two shutouts.
• Missouri was a common opponent for Saint Louis and SEMO this season. The Billikens defeated the Tigers 1-0, while the Redhawks fell 5-0.
