Box Score

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a 4-0 win over Cincinnati this afternoon in Conference USA women's soccer action at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The Billikens got momentum with a penalty kick by senior Kathleen Schager (Chicago, Ill./Palatine) in the 32nd minute and never looked back en route to their ninth victory of the season. Saint Louis keeper Meghann Burke (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) posted a school-record fifth-consecutive shutout.

The Billiken offense was ready from the opening kickoff, using a restart just outside the box to challenge UC keeper Christy Hoffman. In the match, Saint Louis out-shot Cincinnati 13-4.

Saint Louis again pressured Hoffman in the 32nd minute as freshman Lindsay Potrafke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Milford) took a shot that was saved, but not secured by Hoffman. Freshman Anne Lucier (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline) ripped a shot which was stopped by Stacey Kyser. The referee issued Kyser a red card, however, for an intential handball and awarded the Bills a penalty kick. Schager put it away in the right side of the net.

Finding its rhythm, the offense clicked along as the Billiken midfield controlled the ball. Lucier notched a goal, her fourth in two matches in the 37th minute when Erin Schwetye (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's) settled the ball on the near side and served it across the box. Potrafke touched it to Lucier out wide and the freshman buried it in the upper right corner.

Sophomore Meghann Burke picked up the first point of her career as her long punt led Kehl down the right side. Kehl centered the ball to Musschoot who went near post from 12 yards out. Schager wrapped up the scoring with a six-yard strike in the 66th minute. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Myers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) picked up the assist when her initial shot was deflected and Schager corralled the rebound.

The Billikens (9-1-1, 4-0-1 C-USA) wrap up their three-game homestand on Wed., Oct. 4, with a 7 p.m. match with Evansville.
