Women's Soccer Back on Track with Win at DePaul

CHICAGO - Saint Louis University women's soccer dominated DePaul in a 1-0 victory this afternoon at Wish Field. Sophomore Jenny Kehl (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) tallied the game winner in the 82nd minute when Megan McNiff (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu) fed her at the top of the box.

Saint Louis took 12 corner kicks in the victory, nine of them coming in the second half. It was indirectly off the corner that the Billikens scored. DPU keeper Marissa Czapka punched away the cross, but a scramble ensued in which McNiff tapped the ball to Kehl. The sophomore midfielder took a moment to settle it before arching a shot over the out-stretched hands of Czapka

The Billikens dominated play throughout the match, allowing the Blue Demons just two shots on the afternoon. Saint Louis keeper Meghann Burke (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) made one save in posting her ninth shutout of the season.

In a scoreless first half, the Billikens had the better of the play, out-shooting the Blue Demons 7-0. Czapka made three saves in the opening period and got a little help from her defense on another ball driven to goal by Jenny Kehl (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) had three shots at the goal in the first half as she regularly broke down defenders in and around the box.

Saint Louis wraps up the four-game road trip at Conference USA leader Marquette on Sun., Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
