Oct. 8, 2000

Box Score

Houston - Saint Louis University and Houston played to a scoreless overtime tie this afternoon in a Conference USA women's soccer match in the rain and cold. The Billikens managed to snap their two-game losing streak and remain unbeaten in league play at 5-0-2.

The Billikens were playing their fifth match in nine days and the fatigue showed. While the Cougars out-shot the Billikens 3-2 in the first half, Houston had a decided 8-0 shots advantage in the second session. The Billikens regrouped in overtime for a pair of scoring opportunities, but still were out-shot 16-4 for the match.

Saint Louis sophomore keeper Meghann Burke made six saves to preserve the shutout, which was her eighth of the year. Her Houston counterpart, Robin Cate, made three saves as the Cougars improved to 6-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in C-USA

Saint Louis is 9-3-2 overall and continues its four-game road trip this coming weekend. The Billikens travel to DePaul on Fri., Oct. 13, and visit Marquette on Sun., Oct. 15.
