TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Cedric Smith hit one of two free throws with 13.8 seconds left and Altron Jackson added a slam dunk at the buzzer as South Florida topped St. Louis 58-55 Saturday night.

Chonsey Asbury, B.B. Waldon and Jackson had 12 points each for South Florida (13-8, 4-4 Conference USA), which now is 9-0 at home this season.

St. Louis (12-8, 4-4) missed two opportunties in the game's final seconds. Maurice Jeffers failed to make the front-end of a 1-and-1, and Chris Braun misfired on a layup.

Justin Love topped St. Louis, which had its three-game winning streak end, with 24 points. Love had 18 in the first half.

St. Louis' Justin Tatum, the team's second-leading scorer, was limited to just one point in 15 minutes after being kicked in the calf early in the game.

The teams combined for just six points over a seven-minute span before Dave Fergerson's 3-point play put St. Louis up 53-52 with five minutes left.

South Florida regained the lead on its next possession, at 55-53, on Waldon's 3-pointer.

The teams then went through a three-minute dry spell, that ended when Love tied it with two free throws.

South Florida led 33-30 after a mistake-filled first-half in which both teams turned over the ball 14 times. Reggie Kohn's fastbreak layup with 1 second left ended South Florida's 6-0 run during the first half's final minute.
