Box Score

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University women's soccer knocked off Southeast Missouri State 2-0 tonight in exhibition action in front of 292 fans at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. Sophomore Katie Zaegel (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) found the back of the net in the 11th minute when sophomore midfielder Jenny Kehl (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) fed her 10 yards out on the right side.

The Billikens dominated play throughout as both teams fought through steady rain. Saint Louis outshot SEMO 14-2 and forced Otahkian goalkeeper Tami Hebert to make 11 saves. Saint Louis keeper Meghann Burke (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) was largely unchallenged, making a single save in the first half as she recorded the shutout.

Zaegel got the Bills going early as she saw her first game action since missing most of the 1999 campaign with a knee injury. The midfielder showed no ill-effects as she was more than willing to mix it up in the box. The Billikens recorded their second goal when freshman Anne Lucier (Carrollton, Texas/Ursuline) scored from eight yards out after Hebert failed to corrale a shot from Shannon Myers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West).

The Billikens open the regular season on Fri., Aug. 25, with a 7 p.m. game against Drury at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
