Saint Louis University women's soccer played to a scoreless tie at Charlotte tonight in Conference USA action. After steady rains throughout the day delayed the start by one hour, the teams played through steady rain and field-drenched conditions.
Neither team threatened in the second overtime period, with Charlotte getting off just one shot in the final period. Overall, the Billikens out-shot the 49ers 12-8. Saint Louis keeper Meghann Burke (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) recorded six saves, while Charlotte keeper Jennifer Howell made seven stops.
The Billikens controlled the first overtime, forcing Charlotte's keeper Jennifer Howell into a pair of saves and earning two corners. Charlotte got off their best shot of the second half on a restart from the right side of the box in the 50th minute. Jill Currie's shot beat Burke to the far post, but Katie Zaegel was on there to clear it off the line and preserve the tie.
The Billikens are back in action at South Florida on Sun., Sept. 24.
