Iowa City, Iowa - The Saint Louis University field hockey team travelled to Iowa City to meet the Hawkeyes of the University of Iowa. The Bills were defeated 5-0 in the opening match of the 2001 season.

The Hawkeyes scored one goal in the first half and then added four more during the second half to guarantee the victory.

The Billikens were unable to take a shot against the national power team. Senior goalkeeper Erin Linehan made 11 saves during the intense match.

Saint Louis will travel to Michigan to face Central Michigan on Sat., Sept. 1, for a Noon tip and then will meet Louisville on Mon., Sept. 3, for an 11 a.m. start.
