Stockton, Calif. -
On Monday, Oct. 21, the Tigers started their first winning streak
of the season with a 1-0 win over Saint Louis. With the win, Pacific
improves to 3-11 on the season and 2-3 in the NorPac conference, while
the Billikens fall to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in conference.
Tiger junior Cameron Kato was the star on Monday as she scored her first goal of the season and nabbed her fourth defensive save of the year to preserve the Pacific victory.
Kato's goal came on a penalty corner play as she hit a shot past
Billiken goalie Julie Moeckel. The shot initially appeared to be
stopped, but then the ball rolled over Moeckel and into the net at the
19:24 mark. Moeckel made six saves in her second game of the season.
That 1-0 lead would be tested in the second half as the Billikens out
shot Pacific 5-2. The Billikens best opportunity came with approximately ten minutes remaining as Saint Louis had three shots denied, two by Pacific goalie Gina Sadler and the final shot knocked down and cleared by Kato.
The Billikens took six shots while the Tigers took nine.
The Billikens head to Indiana for a Saturday matinee before returning home to host Lindenwood for Senior Day on Wed., Oct. 30.
