Men's Basketball Saint Louis Athletics

Gonzaga 60, Saint Louis 57

Recap |  Box Score

Saint Louis Head Coach Brad Soderberg "The story of the game is that the headliner stepped up. It was pretty much in the balance until their All-American decided they were going to win the game, and he won the game right at the end. I think if their All-American didn't hit some great shots, the results would have been different."

"I'm very proud of the effort by my team. We, by design, have put them through a very difficult non-conference schedule. As has been the case against the other quality opponents we have faced, our kids didn't back down or play with any fear. I guess, if anything, that is a step in the right direction."

Gonzaga Head Coach Mark Few "Playing on the road in a tough environment for the first time, I was really proud of our guys. We accomplished what we needed to, we got out of here with a `W' which was what we wanted to do."

"I thought Adam (Morrison) did a great job. He did a remarkable job just being patient, picking and choosing his spots, and hitting some big shots down the stretch."

"Saint Louis has a nice mix. They have a post player who can really score. We haven't seen anyone like him except for seeing J.P. (Batista) in practice. It was a good challenge for our defense and they handled it well."

Gonzaga Forward Adam Morrison "It was a big win for us. It was on the road, there was a lot of people here and we grinded one out. We would have liked to play at a little faster pace, but we grinded out a `W' and that is all that matters.

"In the first half I started rushing a little bit and that kind of got me off my game and then Coach Few just told me, `take your time.' In the second half, as the time was winding down, I was going to shoot it."

"You have seen how our program has grown the last eight-nine years and where we are at right now, so everyone is going to give us their best shot no matter what. We know that every place we go people are going to be excited to play us."
