Junior guard Dwayne Polk
"The defensive plan tonight was for me to guard him (Brian Roberts) one-on-one, and the team to play everybody else four-on-four. I tried my best to deny him all night, and even when he got open my teammates were there to help me. We executed the defensive plan excellent tonight, and that is why we got the win."
"They scored a couple buckets at the beginning, but we came back and stayed sound on the defensive end and got stops."
Sophomore guard Kevin Lisch
On defensive job on Brian Roberts
"Dwayne tired him out, then I started guarding him so I got lucky there. The other four players did a great job of helping."
On behind the back, no-look pass
"You really don't think about, I just saw him there and thought I'd try it. If I turn it over, I'm sitting on the bench."
Head coach Brad Soderberg
On defensive job on Brian Roberts
"He was the circled man on our scouting report. He is having a phenomenal year. Our plan from the beginning was to make every touch as hard as possible. I want to give credit to the guys who defended him of course, but it wasn't just their responsibility. Dwayne Polk did a great job, Kevin Lisch and Danny Brown on him individually. The other four guys had specific responsibilities once he caught the ball as well. For the most part I thought we executed that part of the plan real well."
"We didn't have good starts defensively in either half, but we finished it well defensively. I think our guys are starting to find that knob to turn when you have to turn it up a little bit. They did it against La Salle on their own, and when we had to have quality defensive stops, we got them."
On center play
"At shootaround, I announced we were going to start Ian Vouyoukas. If we are going to have a good end to the season, he has got to be in there. I thought he played well tonight. I thought he was very aggressive when he caught the ball. In combination with Bryce Husak, who every game I'm gaining more confidence with, I think we have a formidable 40-minute five-man now. I think with Bryce playing well is helping Ian, because it's hard to lumber that big body up and down the court for 40 minutes."
On looking ahead to UMass
"I pride myself on putting the last one behind as fast I can and taking it a day at a time. We are going to have a heck of a practice tomorrow. We're going to go play hard, and play well against what I saw on tape by far the best team in our league. They look really good, but I love that challenge. We're going to be ready to go, we're going to be ready to compete at a high level."
