KINGSTON, R.I. - Adrienne Ruhe Lischke scored a goal in the 64th minute to lift Rhode Island to a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis Friday night in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for both teams.

Ruhe Lischke's tally, her first of the season, found the back of the net at the 63:10 mark and was assisted by Alexis Veith. The goal came just 49 seconds after Saint Louis (1-5-5) finished a flurry of four shots, including two on goal, in a span of less than five minutes.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Brazill (St. Charles, Mo./Incarnate Word) directed one of her two shots on goal, while seniors Kristyn Gawin (Madison, Wis./Middleton) and Christine Steinmetz (Palatine, Ill./St. Viator) each recorded a shot on net.

The team totals were close. Rhode Island (1-7-1) earned an 11-9 advantage in total shots and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. Rams' goalkeeper Sasha Reiber tallied five saves.

The Billikens continue their road trip Sunday, traveling to Massachusetts for a noon (CT) first whistle.
