The Saint Louis women's tennis team concluded its season with a 4-3 loss to Massachusetts Saturday in the consolation bracket of the Atlantic 10 Championship. The seventh-seeded Billikens tied Duquesne for seventh place.
Massachusetts grabbed a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Hailee Elmore and Kasia Tomalak claimed an 8-2 decision over Julia Comas and Tanisha Hodgson at No. 2, but the Minutewomen were victorious at Nos. 1 and 3.
The Billikens (14-9) collected three straight-sets singles wins. Elmore defeated Comas 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, Sarah Septien was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Maude Lecluyse at No. 4. But UMass captured wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles to earn the narrow victory.
Elmore finished her junior campaign with 31 singles victories, a SLU single-season record, and 24 doubles wins, ranking second on the Billikens' single-season list. She is third in singles wins (71) and doubles victories (58) on the Bills' career charts.
