Walsh Turns In Second Consecutive Shutout in 0-0 Draw

ST. LOUIS - Junior goalkeeper Katie Walsh (Chesterfield, Mo./Whitfield) registered her second consecutive shutout and third of the season Sunday afternoon as Saint Louis and Southern Illinois Edwardsville fought to a 0-0 tie in double overtime at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

Walsh, who lowered her goals against average to 1.78 and boosted her save percentage to .741, made seven saves for the Billikens (2-4-2). SIU Edwardsville (2-2-1) got five saves from Claire Lovercheck.

Saint Louis fired three of its five shots on goal in the second overtime, all in the final two minutes. Senior Colleen Kustura (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View), sophomore Jenny Hummert (Wildwood, Mo./St. Joseph's) and freshman Kathryn Brenner (Chesterfield, Mo./Visitation) each launched a shot on frame as the Bills attempted to net a late game winner.

Kustura, Hummert and SIUE's Michelle Auer tied for game-high honors with three total shots apiece. The Billiken defense allowed just three shots on goal in the second half and overtime periods combined.

The Billikens travel to Springfield, Mo., next Sunday to face Missouri State in the final non-conference match of the season. Game time is 2 p.m.
