Box Score AMHERST, Mass. - Saint Louis field hockey got second
half goals from Lexie Lindblad and Alanah Busby, but it wasn't enough as
the Billikens fell 6-2 at Massachusetts Friday in an Atlantic 10 Conference
matchup at Garber Field.
UMass (7-8)
scored twice early in the match to go up 2-0 seven minutes in, and added
another goal late in the first half to make it 3-0 Minutewomen at halftime.
After UMass
tacked on another goal, the Billikens got on the board when Lindblad scored at
the 46:18 mark. Corrine Murphy assisted
on the scoring play, which came off a penalty corner. It was Lindblad's
team-high-tying fourth goal of the season.
The
Minutewomen scored less than a minute later to make it 5-1 UMass, but SLU
answered on a goal by Busby at the 51:24 mark. It was her first goal of the
season. However, the Minutewomen added a penalty stroke goal late in the match
and hung on for the 6-2 win.
SLU returns
home to face A-10 foe Richmond Sunday at Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo. Game time
is scheduled for 1 p.m.
