Joseph's 11-8, Saint Louis field hockey fell 1-0 to the Hawks in the Atlantic
10 Conference opener for both squads.
SJU
recorded the lone goal of the game at the 24:22 mark, when Abby Hoover scored
on a penalty corner off of assists by Nicole Gerdes and Meghan Githens.
The
Billikens would out-shoot the Hawks 5-2 in the second half but were unable to
get one in the back of the cage. Tori
Lycett recorded a team-high four shots, while Lexie Lindblad fired three, including a team-high two on goal.
SLU
freshman goalie Tori Westhead made
two saves.
Saint
Louis continues Atlantic 10 Conference play next Friday, Oct. 12, when they
travel to Amherst, Mass., to face UMass in a noon (CT) start. The Billikens
then travel back to St. Louis to host Richmond Sunday, Oct. 14, at Soccer Park
in a 1 p.m. first whistle.
