INDIANAPOLIS - Saint Louis claimed four singles victories and the
doubles point and defeated Butler 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
The Billikens (9-8) won at Nos. 1
and 3 doubles to claim a 1-0 lead. Jenny
Nalepa and Mia Elmore ousted
Stephanie McLoughlin and Gabrielle Rubenstein 8-4 at No. 1, while Brooke Urzendowski and Madeline Jolly eased past Ashley
Breitenbach and Kate Panawash 8-2 at No. 3.
At No. 1 singles, Nalepa came from
behind to post a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Caroline Hedrick. Stephanie Hollis was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over McLoughlin at No. 2; Maria Toro Moreno downed Cam Thompson
6-4, 6-1 at No. 5; and Jolly got by Laura Shull 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6.
Butler fell to 5-12 with the loss.
The Billikens play their final home match of the
season Tuesday, April 3, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. First serve at Dwight
Davis Tennis Center is slated for 1 p.m.
