Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. - The Billikens scored three
unanswered goals in a 10-minute span in the second half, but it wasn't enough
as they fell 5-3 Friday to Pacific in the season opener for both teams.
Lisa Smith paced the Bills with a goal and an
assist. Caiti Brownell and Tori Lycett scored for SLU, with Lexie Lindblad earning an assist on
Smith's goal.
Pacific
jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring twice in the first half and once in the
second.
SLU then
went to work. Brownell scored in the 50th minute, and Lycett tallied in the 58th
to make it a one-goal game.
Smith tied
it a little more than a minute later, deflecting Lindlad's shot into the back
of the cage at 58:51 to knot the score at 3-3.
Pacific,
however, scored the game winner in the 62nd minute and added an insurance tally
in the 64th for the 5-3 final.
The
Billikens continue their California swing tomorrow when they face UC Davis at 9
p.m. (St. Louis time).
