MUNCIE, Ind. - Saint Louis got goals from Tori Lycett, Lexie Lindblad and Corrine Murphy Sunday in a 3-2 Billiken field hockey victory at Ball State. It was the first win of the season for the Bills.
Ball State (2-7) opened the scoring with a tally at the 26:20 mark, and Ball State
would carry the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Lycett
scored the equalizer early in the second half, but Ball State took a 2-1 lead
less than a minute later.
Lindblad scored at the 46:53 mark to make it a 2-2 game. Murphy scored the game winner at 53:23 off an assist from Laken Gehris.
The
Billikens out-shot BSU 23-12, a season high mark in shots for the Bills. SLU
also had 11 penalty corners, compared to zero for Ball State. Megan Depew-Brady made six stops for
her first-career win.
Lycett leads the Billikens in scoring with four goals and an assist for nine points. Lindblad's score gives her eight points (3G, 2A) on the season, tying her with Lisa Smith for second on the team.
The Billikens return to action this weekend with a pair of home games at Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo. SLU squares off with Libertiy Saturday, Sept. 29, at noon. The Billikens face Miami (Ohio) Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m.
