UMass Comes to Hermann Stadium Sunday

BILLIKENS BEGIN SECOND HALF OF A-10 SCHEDULE – Saint Louis women's soccer (4-9-1, 3-1) moves into the second half of its eight-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule by hosting Massachusetts (5-7-1, 1-2) Sunday, Oct. 13. The game begins at noon and is part of a doubleheader with the SLU men's team, which hosts George Washington at 2:30 p.m. The Billikens' 3-1 league record is their best through four games since the 2007 team posted a 3-0-1 mark.

TICKET INFORMATION – Tickets for all women's soccer home games at Robert R. Hermann Stadium can be purchased at the gate, by phone at (314) 977-4SLU or online at www.slubillikens.com. Prices for single-game tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Groups of 20 or more receive discounted tickets for $4 apiece. Students with a valid SLU ID card receive free admission.

BILLIKENS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER SUNDAY – SLU's contest against Massachusetts has been designated as the “Kicks Against Breast Cancer” game. The Billikens will wear pink jerseys which will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS – Senior defender Jessie Jarrett and sophomore forward Livi Logan-Wood have three goals and an assist each for a team-high seven points. Senior midfielder/forward Jenny Hummert and junior defender Maddy Bush have tallied two goals apiece, while sophomore midfielder Jamei Borges has a goal and two assists. Senior midfielder Tori Belgeri and freshman forwards Cristina Rodriguez and Kirsten Clemens each have a goal and an assist. Senior forward Maddie Gebauer owns two assists, and freshman midfielder Tori Marshall has one helper. Sophomore goalkeeper Hanna Benben carries a 1.89 goals against average and has one shutout.

LAST TIME OUT The Billikens won for a third time in four A-10 outings, scoring three first-half goals and blanking Duquesne 3-0 Oct. 11 at Hermann Stadium. Hanna Benben picked up her first collegiate shutout and tied her career high with six saves. Jessie Jarrett, Jamei Borges (Tori Belgeri assist) and Livi Logan-Wood (Maddie Gebauer assist) scored for Saint Louis.

HEAD COACH KATIE SHIELDS Katie Shields is in her first season as the Billikens' head coach after serving as a SLU assistant coach last year. Shields is joined on the sideline by four newcomers to the staff – assistant coaches Scott Gloden and Vince Gentile, volunteer assistant Anne Gloden and senior graduate manager Maggie Baumann.

SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS – The Minutewomen, who qualified for the A-10 Championship a year ago, have suffered 1-0 setbacks to VCU and Dayton at home after opening league play with a 2-1 win at Saint Joseph's. Senior forward Brittany Moore (3G, 2A), junior midfielder Alyssa D'Arcy (3G), freshman forward Sarah Pandolfi (2G, 1A) and freshman forward Megan Burke (2G) have accounted for 10 of the team's 14 goals. Sophomore defender Madison Smith has a team-high three assists. Redshirt freshman Danielle Kriscenski has played every minute in goal and owns a 1.32 GAA, a .760 save percentage and two shutouts.

THE MASSACHUSETTS SERIES – The Billikens hold a 5-1-1 series edge against the Minutewomen. SLU shut out UMass in each of the first five meetings. The Minutewomen earned their first series win in 2010, and the teams tied 1-1 in the most recent meeting two seasons ago.

UP NEXT – The Billikens play A-10 preseason favorite and current conference leader Dayton Saturday, Oct. 19, at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio. Game time is 6 p.m. (CT).
