Box Score ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis field hockey suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to Missouri State, 3-2. The Billikens fall to 1-13 on the year.
The Bears scored first with a goal in the seventh minute. At the half, SLU trailed 1-0.
Saint Louis equalized early in the second half. Faith Mackin swept in front of the goal to corral a rebound and deposit the ball in the back of the net in the 38th minute. It is the fourth goal of the season for Mackin.
Missouri State regained the lead a minute later to bring the score to 2-1.
With time dwindling away in regulation, the Billikens earned a corner. Caitlin Gibson took the corner and sent it to Caiti Brownell at the top of the circle. Brownell settled the ball for Megan Rogers, who ripped the ball from just inside the circle to tie the game in the 69th minute.
The goal was Rogers' fourth of the year, tying Mackin for the team lead.
In overtime, the Bears scored off a corner in the 77th minute to escape Soccer Park with a win.
The Billikens return to action on Friday, Oct. 18 when they host VCU at Soccer Park. First whistle is scheduled for 1 p.m.
