Hummert Tallies Goal, Assist in 3-2 Loss at Dayton

Box Score

DAYTON, Ohio – Senior forward Jenny Hummert recorded a goal and an assist, but Dayton scored three unanswered goals and escaped with a 3-2 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over Saint Louis Saturday night at Baujan Field.

A-10 preseason favorite Dayton improved to 10-4-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Saint Louis, which came into the match in second place in the league, slipped to 4-10-2, 3-2-1.

The Flyers came in with a six-game shutout streak, but the Billikens quickly made sure the streak would not be extended. Sophomore forward Livi Logan-Wood registered her team-leading fifth goal of the season at 6:01 when she took a cross from Hummert and volleyed a shot into the right side of the net from six yards away. The helper was Hummert's second of the season.

Hummert made it 2-0 Saint Louis at the 34:49 mark with her third goal of the year. Junior forward Lindsay Elking delivered a pass to Hummert at the edge of the 18-yard box, and Hummert beat the Dayton keeper to the lower right side. The assist was Elking's first point of the season.

Dayton cut the SLU lead in half at 61:26 on Ashley Campbell's 12th goal of the year (Juliana Libertin, Nicole Waters assists). The Flyers tied it at 64:54 when Stephanie Emery (Erin O'Malley) notched her ninth marker of the season.

The game-winner came off a corner kick midway through the extra period. Sarah Senoyuit picked up her first goal of the year with an assist from Waters.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hanna Benben made a career-high eight saves for the Billikens. Elking and freshman Cristina Rodriguez had a team-high three shots apiece.

The Billikens play their final home game of the season Sunday, Oct. 27, against Rhode Island. First whistle at Robert R. Hermann Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. SLU seniors Tori Belgeri, Maddie Gebauer, Jenny Hummert, Jessie Jarrett and Kailey Pretzlaff will be honored prior to the game.
