Box Score ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis field hockey played a tight match against the Richmond Spiders, but ultimately fell 2-0. The Billikens are now 1-15 overall and 0-3 in Atlantic 10 games.
The Spiders opened scoring early, with a goal in the fifth minute. It would prove to be the only shot taken in the first 15 minutes of action as both teams battled for possession in the midfield. Saint Louis was aggressive late, recording two penalty corners to close the half, but entered the break trailing 1-0.
Richmond struck again in the 53rd minute, drawing the score to 2-0. Sophmore goalie Tori Westhead played well in the second half, notching eight saves.
Senior Megan Rogers played well in her final game at Soccer Park, leading the Bills with three shots, two on goal. Fellow senior Caiti Brownell had a defensive save late in the game.
The Billikens return to action on Oct. 25 in Philadelphia, Pa. when they take on Saint Joseph's. First whistle is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.
