Box Score IOWA CITY, Iowa – Saint Louis scored twice against an Iowa team that had allowed just one goal all season in a 3-2 loss to the Hawkeyes Friday night at Iowa Soccer Complex.
Iowa, which has won 24 consecutive non-conference games, improved to 7-0 on the season, while Saint Louis slipped to 1-5-1.
The Hawkeyes held a 2-0 advantage at intermission following goals by Melanie Pickert (unassisted) at 16:06 and Ashley Catrell (Cloe Lacasse) at 28:45.
Senior midfielder Jenny Hummert cut the Iowa lead in half at the 55:35 mark with her second tally of the year. Hummert took advantage of an Iowa turnover near midfield and fired a shot from 25 yards away that sailed over goalkeeper Hannah Clark's head and into the net.
After Iowa regained a two-goal cushion on a marker by Alex Melin (Lacasse) at 67:26, SLU made it interesting in the waning seconds. On a corner kick, freshman midfielder Tori Marshall lofted a ball that senior defender Maddy Bush headed into the net for her second goal of the season at 89:52. The assist was Marshall's first collegiate point.
The Billikens are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Illinois State. Game time is 4 p.m.
