BILLIKENS TAKE ON MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE FOE – Saint Louis women's soccer (1-4) concludes a three-game home stand Sunday, Sept. 8, against Evansville (3-2) at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The Billikens and Purple Aces kick off at 1 p.m.
TICKET INFORMATION – Tickets for all women's soccer home games at Robert R. Hermann Stadium can be purchased at the gate, by phone at (314) 977-4SLU or online at www.slubillikens.com. Prices for single-game tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Groups of 20 or more receive discounted tickets for $4 apiece. Season tickets are $70 for adults and $40 for youth (ages 3-12). Students with a valid SLU ID card receive free admission.

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS – Freshman forward Cristina Rodriguez, senior midfielder Jenny Hummert and sophomore forward Livi Logan-Wood have scored a goal apiece for Saint Louis. Rodriguez also has an assist for a team-high three points, while sophomore midfielder Jamei Borges has two helpers.
LAST TIME OUT – Despite a career-high six saves by Hanna Benben, the Billikens dropped a 1-0 decision to SIUE Sept. 6 at Hermann Stadium. Jenny Hummert led all players with four shots.
HEAD COACH KATIE SHIELDS – Katie Shields is in her first season as the Billikens' head coach after serving as a SLU assistant coach last year. Shields is joined on the sideline by four newcomers to the staff – assistant coaches Scott Gloden and Vince Gentile, volunteer assistant Anne Gloden and senior graduate manager Maggie Baumann.
SCOUTING EVANSVILLE – The Purple Aces improved to 3-2 with a 1-0 overtime victory over IUPUI Friday night in Evansville. Sophomore Simone Busby, the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, picked up her second shutout of the season. Busby carries a 0.59 goals against average and an .842 save percentage. Senior midfielder Stephanie Thompson and freshman midfielder/forward Emily Griebel have scored two goals apiece to lead the offense. Sophomore forward Kayla Smith and senior forward Lauren Tiernan have netted a goal apiece, while sophomore forward Abby Springer (2012 MVC Freshman of the Year) owns an assist. The Purple Aces returned eight starters from last year's team that finished 5-8-3 overall and won the MVC regular-season title with a 4-1-1 league mark.
THE EVANSVILLE SERIES – The Billikens have claimed the last two meetings – 4-0 in St. Louis two years ago and 2-0 in Evansville last season – to narrow the Purple Aces' series lead to 5-3. The teams squared off in each of SLU's first six seasons (1996-2001).
UP NEXT – The Billikens play just one game next week, traveling to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes Friday, Sept. 13. First whistle is set for 7 p.m.
