CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Saint Louis competed at the Illini Open Saturday in its first meet since returning from the holiday break.
A pair of Billikens registered school records in the meet. On the women's side, Hannah Kuenzel posted the program's best mark in the weight throw (14.76m). A record also fell on the men's side, as Michael Reader won the high jump with a school-record leap of 1.90m.
Other top three performances on the men's side included Michael Scolarici and Jack Hostettler finishing first and second in the 3,000 meters with time of 8:37.32 and 8:54.25, respectively.
Chad Maxwell was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.48, while Dominic Corvington was second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.54 meters.
On the women's side, Kita Alvares placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 58.08. SLU 4x400-meter relay team – comprised of Alvares, Allison Walter, Emma Kidd and Hannah Rohde – placed third with a time of 3:53.55.
In the women's high jump, Naya Owusu placed second and Stephanie Uhrich was third with marks of 1.65 meters.
Kuenzel also finished third in the shot put with a distance of 13.17 meters.
As a team, the men's squad was third out of six teams, while the women's team was fourth out of five squads.
Saint Louis returns to Champaign next weekend for the Illinois Challenge.
